Tantra
by Shashi Solluna

In this accessible guide, Shashi Solluna breaks all preconceptions about Tantra and introduces us to the real philosophy behind this sacred practice. In traditional descriptions, Tantra is often defined as meaning “to weave”, and can be compared to the weaving of a fabric. Tantra is therefore a path that weaves together. Ultimately, Tantra points us to the highest level of consciousness in which one merges into Oneness and no longer feels like a separate physical entity. This is sometimes called “Heaven” as opposed to the more tangible experience of “Earth”. This book explains how Tantra can allow us to move from a physical solid experience of reality into the lighter more ethereal experience – or from Earth to Heaven – and then ultimately bring Heaven to Earth! This books explores: • The history of Tantra • The core principles of Tantra • An understanding of the tantric approach to sexuality • Practices to explore your own Tantric sexuality • A tantric understanding of relationship, love and intimacy • An understanding of Tantra as a spiritual path • Practices for creating spiritual experiences and higher states of consciousness …and much more!

Modern teens are faced daily with making decisions about whether to have sex and how to protect themselves if they do, and they need an engaging and relatable resource for getting the right information. That’s what this book is about.

Crap in the bedroom? Not sure what to do with that thing between your legs? Is your partner threatening to leave you? Well, panic no more, ‘Sex Made Easy’, a ”Self-Help Sex Survival Instruction Manual” has arrived to help you understand, battle and conquer your fears and pointless insecurities in the bedroom. ‘Sex Made Easy’ contains everything you should already know about sex, but probably don’t, because you were too afraid to ask. Contains sections such as Top Ten Erotic Movies To Get Her In the Mood, Top Ten Most Uncomfortable Positions, A Guide To Foreplay, Tip Top Sex Tips, Mastering Phone Sex, Sex Injuries To Avoid and Sexy Statistics (in chart form). It’s about sex basically. This humorous spoof manual has (none of) the practical advice of the countless self-help sex books you see written by ”experts”, but makes up for it with tons of wit and charm – and hysterical 1980’s soft core pornography – which will have you and your partner rolling around in the bedroom, if not necessarily the bed. ‘Sex Made Easy’ will appeal to anyone interested in sex and, last time we checked, that was everyone.

Come as You Are
by Emily Nagoski

***A NEW YORK TIMES BESTELLER***

An essential exploration of why and how women’s sexuality works—based on groundbreaking research and brain science—that will radically transform your sex life into one filled with confidence and joy.

Researchers have spent the last decade trying to develop a “pink pill” for women to function like Viagra does for men. So where is it? Well, for reasons this book makes crystal clear, that pill will never be the answer—but as a result of the research that’s gone into it, scientists in the last few years have learned more about how women’s sexuality works than we ever thought possible, and Come as You Are explains it all.

The first lesson in this essential, transformative book by Dr. Emily Nagoski is that every woman has her own unique sexuality, like a fingerprint, and that women vary more than men in our anatomy, our sexual response mechanisms, and the way our bodies respond to the sexual world. So we never need to judge ourselves based on others’ experiences. Because women vary, and that’s normal.

Second lesson: sex happens in a context. And all the complications of everyday life influence the context surrounding a woman’s arousal, desire, and orgasm.

Cutting-edge research across multiple disciplines tells us that the most important factor for women in creating and sustaining a fulfilling sex life, is not what you do in bed or how you do it, but how you feel about it. Which means that stress, mood, trust, and body image are not peripheral factors in a woman’s sexual wellbeing; they are central to it. Once you understand these factors, and how to influence them, you can create for yourself better sex and more profound pleasure than you ever thought possible.

And Emily Nagoski can prove it.

Mapping Your Sex Life
by Stephanie Jean Clement

YOU ARE A SEXUAL BEING
“(But, is something missing?)”
Something is missing, but what? We all come into relationships expecting something huge and magical, but generally what could be truly glorious settles into something less. “Why? Why can”t it be all that we hoped for?”
As with anything else, self-knowledge is the starting point. “Mapping Your Sex Life “can help you understand the physical and emotional needs, desires, fantasies, and expectations of you and your partner, and discover what may be holding you back from deep fulfillment of your sexual potential.
SEX IS IMPORTANT!
Sex is the engine of deep relationship and the foundation of family. Sexual fulfillment is important to health & wellness, releasing stress and stimulating the flow of hormones and chemicals vital to the body. And sexuality is a factor in your spiritual life as well.
The birthdate, time and place of birth are all you need to create a birthchart with the help of the included CD-ROM. Your computer will print out an interpretive report for you and anyone else and the book will tell you how to apply this knowledge to enhance your sex life and that of your partner.

Date Night
by Carmen Green

BJ, Quita and Ebony are more than just girlfriends, they’re on-the-money partners in their own investment club. And now that they’re all nearing or at the age of thirty, they’re looking to invest some time in a good man. Trouble is, Hotlanta has cooled off for them in the eligible bachelors department. Their solution? Two words: Date Night. They make a pact to go on at least one date each week and, to keep each other honest, they’ll hold their own date night every Sunday so they can tell all about their latest escapades. Of course, each of them has her own challenges–and hang-ups. BJ is a former WNBA star who’s dealing with seeing the grandmother who raised her show signs of age. When it comes to dating, she may have to decide between a smooth-talking musician and an undercover brother who’s not what he seems. Quita is the dazzling beauty who wants one thing: a baby. If she happens to find real love along the way, so be it. Ebony’s been so beaten down by her mother’s criticisms that her self-confidence is shot, but date night has given her a new lease on life. She’s ready to shed her ugly-duckling attitude and find a good man–who may be closer than she thinks. Now, as each woman finds the strength to take her destiny in hand, the only question is, who’ll find love first?

Date Night
by Samantha Hayes

Returning early from a disastrous date night with my husband, I know something is wrong the moment the wheels crunch the gravel drive of our home. Inside, the TV is on and a half-eaten meal waits on the table. My heart stops when I find our little girl is alone in the house and our babysitter, Sasha, is missing…

Days later, when I’m arrested for Sasha’s murder and torn away from my perfect little family, I’ll wish I had told someone about the threatening note I received that morning.

I’ll hate myself for not finding out who the gift hidden inside my husband’s wardrobe was for.

I’ll scream from the rooftops that I’m innocent – but no one will listen.

I will realise I was completely wrong about everything that happened that night…

But will you believe me?

Twisted and absolutely unputdownable, Date Night exposes what goes on behind the closed doors of a happy home and the dangerous truths we ignore to protect the ones we love. Perfect reading for anyone totally gripped by The Wife Between Us, Friend Request or Gone Girl.

My Bookstore
by Ronald Rice

In My Bookstore our favorite writers-from Elin Hilderbrand, to John Grisham, to Dave Eggers-express their adoration and admiration for their favorite bookstores and booksellers. The relationship between a writer and her local bookstore can last for years or even decades. Often it is the author’s local store that supported her during the early days of her career and that works tirelessly to introduce her work to new readers. But authors are also readers and customers, just like us. For them, as for most of us, bookstores serve as the anchor for our communities, the place that introduces us to new ideas (and new neighbors), and that sets our children on the path to becoming lifelong readers and lovers of books. Brimming with original, deeply moving, funny, and exceedingly well-crafted tributes to bookstores, from Longfellow Books in Portland, Maine (Ron Currie, Jr.) to Powells City of Books in Portland, Oregon (Chuck Palahniuk) and everywhere in between, My Bookstore is a joyful celebration of our bricks-and-mortar stores and a clarion call to readers everywhere at a time when the value and importance of these stores should be shouted from the rooftops.

The Postmistress
by Sarah Blake

Experience World War 2 through the eyes of two very different women in this captivating New York Times bestseller by the author of The Guest Book.

“A beautifully written, thought-provoking novel.”—Kathryn Stockett, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Help

In 1940, Iris James is the postmistress in coastal Franklin, Massachusetts. Iris knows more about the townspeople than she will ever say, and believes her job is to deliver secrets. Yet one day she does the unthinkable: slips a letter into her pocket, reads it, and doesn’t deliver it.

Meanwhile, Frankie Bard broadcasts from overseas with Edward R. Murrow. Her dispatches beg listeners to pay heed as the Nazis bomb London nightly. Most of the townspeople of Franklin think the war can’t touch them. But both Iris and Frankie know better…

The Postmistress is a tale of two worlds-one shattered by violence, the other willfully naïve—and of two women whose job is to deliver the news, yet who find themselves unable to do so. Through their eyes, and the eyes of everyday people caught in history’s tide, it examines how stories are told, and how the fact of war is borne even through everyday life.

The Twelve (Book Two of The Passage Trilogy)
by Justin Cronin

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The end of the world was only the beginning.

In his internationally bestselling and critically acclaimed novel The Passage, Justin Cronin constructed an unforgettable world transformed by a government experiment gone horribly wrong. Now the scope widens and the intensity deepens as the epic story surges forward . . .

In the present day, as the man-made apocalypse unfolds, three strangers navigate the chaos. Lila, a doctor and an expectant mother, is so shattered by the spread of violence and infection that she continues to plan for her child’s arrival even as society dissolves around her. Kittridge, known to the world as “Last Stand in Denver,” has been forced to flee his stronghold and is now on the road, dodging the infected, armed but alone and well aware that a tank of gas will get him only so far. April is a teenager fighting to guide her little brother safely through a landscape of death and ruin. These three will learn that they have not been fully abandoned—and that in connection lies hope, even on the darkest of nights.

One hundred years in the future, Amy and the others fight on for humankind’s salvation . . . unaware that the rules have changed. The enemy has evolved, and a dark new order has arisen with a vision of the future infinitely more horrifying than man’s extinction. If the Twelve are to fall, one of those united to vanquish them will have to pay the ultimate price.

What are total revenues through all sales of intellectual property by libraries and what is the trend in revenues? How many book donations do libraries receive each year? How many DVDs? The Grand Design
by Stephen Hawking, Leonard Mlodinow

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

When and how did the universe begin? Why are we here? What is the nature of reality? Is the apparent “grand design” of our universe evidence of a benevolent creator who set things in motion—or does science offer another explanation? In this startling and lavishly illustrated book, Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow present the most recent scientific thinking about these and other abiding mysteries of the universe, in nontechnical language marked by brilliance and simplicity.

According to quantum theory, the cosmos does not have just a single existence or history. The authors explain that we ourselves are the product of quantum fluctuations in the early universe, and show how quantum theory predicts the “multiverse”—the idea that ours is just one of many universes that appeared spontaneously out of nothing, each with different laws of nature. They conclude with a riveting assessment of M-theory, an explanation of the laws governing our universe that is currently the only viable candidate for a “theory of everything”: the unified theory that Einstein was looking for, which, if confirmed, would represent the ultimate triumph of human reason.

The Dreams That Stuff Is Made Of
by Stephen Hawking

“God does not play dice with the universe.” So said Albert Einstein in response to the first discoveries that launched quantum physics, as they suggested a random universe that seemed to violate the laws of common sense. This 20th-century scientific revolution completely shattered Newtonian laws, inciting a crisis of thought that challenged scientists to think differently about matter and subatomic particles. The Dreams That Stuff Is Made Of compiles the essential works from the scientists who sparked the paradigm shift that changed the face of physics forever, pushing our understanding of the universe on to an entirely new level of comprehension. Gathered in this anthology is the scholarship that shocked and befuddled the scientific world, including works by Niels Bohr, Max Planck, Werner Heisenberg, Max Born, Erwin Schrodinger, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Richard Feynman, as well as an introduction by today’s most celebrated scientist, Stephen Hawking.

A Briefer History of Time
by Stephen Hawking, Leonard Mlodinow

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHORS

The science classic made more accessible
* More concise * Illustrated

FROM ONE OF THE MOST BRILLIANT MINDS OF OUR TIME COMES A BOOK THAT CLARIFIES HIS MOST IMPORTANT IDEAS

Stephen Hawking’s worldwide bestseller A Brief History of Time remains a landmark volume in scientific writing. But for years readers have asked for a more accessible formulation of its key concepts–the nature of space and time, the role of God in creation, and the history and future of the universe. A Briefer History of Time is Professor Hawking’s response.

Although “briefer,” this book is much more than a mere explanation of Hawking’s earlier work. A Briefer History of Time both clarifies and expands on the great subjects of the original, and records the latest developments in the field–from string theory to the search for a unified theory of all the forces of physics. Thirty-seven full-color illustrations enhance the text and make A Briefer History of Time an exhilarating and must-have addition in its own right to the great literature of science and ideas.

Is God a Mathematician?
by Mario Livio

Bestselling author and astrophysicist Mario Livio examines the lives and theories of history’s greatest mathematicians to ask how—if mathematics is an abstract construction of the human mind—it can so perfectly explain the physical world.

Nobel Laureate Eugene Wigner once wondered about “the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics” in the formulation of the laws of nature. Is God a Mathematician? investigates why mathematics is as powerful as it is. From ancient times to the present, scientists and philosophers have marveled at how such a seemingly abstract discipline could so perfectly explain the natural world. More than that—mathematics has often made predictions, for example, about subatomic particles or cosmic phenomena that were unknown at the time, but later were proven to be true. Is mathematics ultimately invented or discovered? If, as Einstein insisted, mathematics is “a product of human thought that is independent of experience,” how can it so accurately describe and even predict the world around us?

Physicist and author Mario Livio brilliantly explores mathematical ideas from Pythagoras to the present day as he shows us how intriguing questions and ingenious answers have led to ever deeper insights into our world. This fascinating book will interest anyone curious about the human mind, the scientific world, and the relationship between them.

The Large Scale Structure of Space-Time
by S. W. Hawking, G. F. R. Ellis

Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity leads to two remarkable predictions: first, that the ultimate destiny of many massive stars is to undergo gravitational collapse and to disappear from view, leaving behind a ‘black hole’ in space; and secondly, that there will exist singularities in space-time itself. These singularities are places where space-time begins or ends, and the presently known laws of physics break down. They will occur inside black holes, and in the past are what might be construed as the beginning of the universe. To show how these predictions arise, the authors discuss the General Theory of Relativity in the large. Starting with a precise formulation of the theory and an account of the necessary background of differential geometry, the significance of space-time curvature is discussed and the global properties of a number of exact solutions of Einstein’s field equations are examined. The theory of the causal structure of a general space-time is developed, and is used to study black holes and to prove a number of theorems establishing the inevitability of singualarities under certain conditions. A discussion of the Cauchy problem for General Relativity is also included in this 1973 book.
